Lastly, change the settings of your computer and instruct it to access its CD-ROM drive first before anything else. This process is important to make the windows 7 CD installer run. (A simple note: the "Boot" tab on the picture above may differ from the "Boot" tab of your computer. Do not fret because it may look different but the function is still the same.)

If you are trying to perform a clean installation of Windows, you must provide the correct drivers for the hard disk controller. When you are prompted to select the disk on which to install Windows, you must also click to select the Load Driver option. Windows Setup will guide you through the rest of the process.

Use this method only if you want to perform a clean installation of Windows. When you clean the hard disk, it is formatted. All partitions and all data on the hard disk are permanently removed. We strongly recommend that you back up the files on the hard disk before you clean the disk.

Once XP and Antivirus is working fine, insert the Win 7 DVD on the DVD drive and do a clean installation of Win 7, I mean, delete and re-create all the partitions, format, setup and install a brand new instalation of Win 7 (it will also kill the Win XP installation).

In Windows 7, you can format your C drive without being required to format all the other disk drives, or partitions, on your computer. The Windows 7 installation disc that was included with your computer at the time of purchase will allow you to format the C drive and erase all your settings, files, and programs on that partition. To format your C drive, you can save and back up your files and programs to an external disc before using the Windows 7 installation discs to complete the formatting procedure.

I want to do a full format of the entire disk & clean install a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. When I restart the system with CD in the ROM already, it is not showing any option to start the system from CD (boot from CD). I changed the order of boot devices in BIOS & set CD as first option, still it is not showing me the option to boot from CD. Please suggest me how to go forth with full format of the disk.

Description: This article will show you how to how to use DiskPart while installing a fresh installation of Windows 10. This is helpful if your drive is not showing up in the Windows installation partition screen and you cannot format it in any other way. This type of situation can also come up when trying to do a clean installation on a working drive that has been previously used with different formatting than is currently being used. This tool offers a way to work around this type of situation.

The fact is we can install or reinstall Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10 operating system without formatting or erasing Windows drive provided that the drive has plenty of free space to accommodate the new installation. In other words, the drive containing existing Windows installation must have a minimum of 16 GB for 32-bit and 20 GB for 64-bit free space in order to perform a fresh installation of Windows without erasing the drive.

Sir,i want to install windows 8 32bit over windows 10 64bit; is it possible to do so?I have 2 partitions in my pc:1. Disk C: which contains all windows files and,2. Disk D: which contains my personal data

When i started installing windows 8 it asked me to create partitions, what should I do now? Also, I have more than 50gb free space in both disks (if both hard disk combined i have 500gb in total)What if, i do not create any partition other than the one already in its list? Will I be able to install windows 8 without losing my personal data on Disk D:?Should I copy all my data from Disk D: to Disk C: and then install windows 8? If you have Office 2010 or earlier and choose to perform a clean install of Windows 10, you will need to locate your Office product key. For tips on locating your product key, check Find your Office 2010 product key or Enter the product key for your Office 2007 program.

If you want to clean install OS on an SSD, you need to format the SSD. If you want to keep your original OS, programs, and data on your system drive, you can use third-party software to migrate OS to SSD without losing data.

To format a drive (HDD, HDD, USB flash drive, etc.) means preparing the chosen partition on the drive to be used by an operating system by deleting all of the data and setting up a file system. Before you start formatting an SSD, you should prepare SSD for windows 10 install first:

Consider making a list of all the installed programs you want to reinstall later on the clean Windows installation. To refresh your memory on what programs you have currently installed on your PC, take a look at your Start Menu (or Start Screen in Windows 8 and 8.1) or navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

For each program, check to see if you need to save or export additional data for restoration after you reinstall Windows. Some programs also store data in the cloud, which typically allows you to simply log in to restore your data after reinstalling the software on your clean Windows build. For instance, Chrome and Firefox each allow you to sync your data to an online profile. The syncing stores your bookmarks, saved passwords, and settings online.

You can perform a clean installation of Windows 8.1 if you purchased Windows 8.1 on DVD or purchased a download of Windows 8.1. A clean installation typically means formatting your hard drive before installing Windows, so make sure that you have backed up your files and created recovery disc by MSI BurnRecovery tool before proceeding.

If you are preparing to perform a reformat on your computer's hard drive, then you must take necessary precautions before moving forward with the process. The formatting method will erase absolutely everything on the disk if you don't make the right arrangements. Here are the things that you must do before cleaning the hard drive.

It's time for a clean install of my Windows 10 pro. I intend to format the SSD drive that is used for the OS and then install Win 10 again (I use a seperate HDD for storage) When choosing a location I see that there are three partitions on the SSD (Drive 1):

Best practice is to Delete all of the partitions on the drive you intend to install Windows on, leaving a single un-partitioned space for the drive, ensuring the cleanest experience. Windows will handle everything else.

On my laptop, I have to change the boot order from BIOS. There is no option during startup to boot from pen drive. So should I just remove the pen drive while the laptop is restarting ( after installing windows 10 ) to avoid the setup starting up again ? Or something else?

Formatting (actually re-formatting) a solid state drive (SSD) is a quick and simple process to restore the drive to a clean state, similar to when the drive was new. If you are looking to sell or donate your old drive, you will want to not only reformat your drive, but also erase all the data in a separate action.

Fortunately, if you're running Windows 7 or 8, and you really want to use your free Windows 10 licence key to perform a clean installation rather than upgrade, there is a solution. It's pretty convoluted, but it works.

Now, proceed with a clean installation of Windows 10 (select "Custom: Install Windows only" when prompted.) When it asks you for a product key, click Skip. If it asks you multiple times, just keep hitting Skip.

Another option, rather than installing Windows 10 twice, is to click the small "change what to keep" button during installation, and then select "nothing" from the following screen. This will delete all of your files, apps, and settings. This will be functionally the same as performing a clean installation, but there may be small underlying differences.

Another method is to upgrade to Windows 10, head into the new Settings app, and go to "Update and recovery." From there, you can click "Reset this PC," which gives you the option of reinstalling Windows 10 and either a) keeping your apps and files, or b) wiping everything clean. Again, this isn't quite the same as a clean installation, but it's very similar.

If you do opt for the upgrade-then-install method, one slightly faster route is to download and burn an ISO the first time you run the tool, and then upgrade from that ISO. You can then use the same installation media to do a clean installation, rather than downloading Windows 10 again using the tool.

It was the final unanswered question about Windows 7. But now, thanks to numerous reader reports, my own hands-on experience, and a briefing with the team at Microsoft responsible for this technology, I think we have some answers. Sadly, Microsoft is still making it difficult to clean install Windows 7 with Upgrade media, as it did with Windows Vista. But fear not, there is some good news. While you can't simply use Upgrade media to do a clean install of Windows 7 on a new or previously formatted PC, the workarounds this time are easier than ever. And that's what this article is all about: Revealing the secrets to clean-installing Windows 7 with Upgrade media.

In Windows Vista, Microsoft supported in-place upgrades from Windows XP, but if you wanted to use an Upgrade version of the Windows Vista Setup disc to do a clean install, you had to perform a weird double install trick. (I documented this process in How to Clean Install Windows Vista with Upgrade Media.)

When it comes to performing a clean install of Windows 7 using Upgrade media, there's no simple answer. For some people, it just works, and I'll provide information here so you can help ensure it just works for you, every time. 2ff7e9595c
